Mainly, the new laws on bankruptcy that went into effect on 17 October 2005 merely made filing more tedious and expensive. You are still eligible if you cannot pay all your debts as they come due. There are some new restrictions here and there but the basic debt relief afforded has not changed significantly for most filers.
